Gravel is made up of small pieces of rocks and other hard materials. Gravel is graded and separated from the quarried sand during the extraction process.
Stone aggregate is just stone that’s been crushed. Unlike gravel which is naturally formed, crushed stone aggregate is broken down to the required size using a crusher.
Concreting sand is also known as sharp sand. When extracted it’s coarse and red in colour. It’s mostly used to make screeds and foundation projects.

Fine sand is, as the name suggests, sand that is produced to a finer grain than other sands. Because of the size of its grain, it makes it more easy to mix for mortar.
Building sand is finer and thus, much softer than other types of sand. Because of this, it’s perfect for making mortar which requires an adhesive consistency.
Bedding sand is fine washed sand that can be used in enclosed stock yards. Unlike other forms of bedding such as straw or wood shavings it helps control the spread of diseases.
As you can probably guess from the name, as dug sand is simply sand as it’s dug up. This means there is no processing or sorting to make sure grains are of a certain size.
